JMA Architects was established on the Sunshine Coast in 1985 by principal John Mainwaring, LFRAIA. In 2016 Hollindale Mainwaring Architecture Pty Ltd (HMA) was formed, welcoming long term colleague Garth Hollindale as fellow Partner.

HMA has competence in the fields of Architecture, Conservation Work, Urban Design and Interior Design. The office works on any number of projects at the one time including master planning, waterside mixed-use developments, resorts, public buildings and various residential and multi-residential projects.

The practice has been involved with many projects of varied typologies since its early days in the mid 80's, including heritage and historical work. Many of our projects have been published nationally and internationally, with the firm developing its own distinctive sub-tropical and tropical architectural aesthetic. The office is now located in Fortitude Valley, Brisbane, to service projects in other locations throughout Australia.

JOHN MAINWARING

DIRECTOR

John Mainwaring is a well-known figure in Australian architecture. He has received many citations and commendations for his work from all aspects of the industry. His work has been published extensively, including in South East Asia, France, Spain, England, Japan, Germany and Italy.

John has been awarded many major Royal Australian Institute of Architecture Awards which includes the Sir Zelman Cowen Award for Public Architecture for the Sunshine Coast University Library, the Robin Boyd Award for Housing and several Commercial and Environment Citations.

GARTH HOLLINDALE

DIRECTOR

Garth’s career has lead to extensive experience in designing buildings for the Sub tropical context of South East Queensland.

It has also provided complete involvement in the project, from the first client contact to project completion.Significant time spent on construction sites, as project architect for Viridian, and SW1 Eden has also provided an invaluable insight into the relationship between design and the building procurement processes and cultures of the region.
