Vida Terraces & Shop Houses
North Lakes, Queensland, Australia
Vida is part of the medium density low rise residential densification of the Northlakes CBD, a satellite city at the beginning of the northern corridor of greater Brisbane. The diverse range of townhouses and shophouses are rear lane serviced by an internal ring road with central recreation facility. Pedestrian paths and ‘alleyways’ connect central spaces and homes to the surrounding urban grain. The many terrace typologies give rise to varying demographic groups including up sizers, down sizers and side sizers. Sub-tropical architectural tectonics responds to the various aspects, orientations and urban context. This gives articulation, variation, shade and patterning to the elevations and streetscape giving a rich character to all road frontages. The terrace houses incorporate courtyards and, or clerestories for passive ventilation and natural light to internal spaces including bathrooms, powder rooms and multi-purpose rooms.
